Hello everyone! My name is Nate. I am a musician and university student in Seattle, as well as a traditionalist Catholic. I go to a parish served by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) and am a steadfast supporter of the FSSP. I am not a priest or member of a religious order, just a simple lay person. I was raised as an Episcopalian and became Catholic at age 15. Even before I became Catholic, I had a great interest in and devotion to the liturgy. This interest eventually led me to the traditional Latin Mass, which was what brought me into the Catholic Church. For those interested in Myers-Briggs personality types, I am an INTJ.
This blog, Holy Mass and More, will cover a variety of Catholic topics, but my main focus will be on traditional sacred liturgy. The liturgy is the regular, public worship of the Church, which consists of the Mass, the Divine Office, and the sacraments. Through these, the Church offers her praise, worship, sacrifice, and supplication to God, and God gives the Church his infinite grace. Thus, it is important to study, understand, and participate in the liturgy. I started this blog in order to help others do so.
I plan to make a new post each Sunday, with occasional special posts for major feasts. It will begin with a twelve-part series explaining the liturgy of the traditional Latin Mass. Future topics may include the Divine Office, the sacraments, Eastern liturgies, and the ceremonies of Holy Week. My close friend, Mary, has graciously agreed to assist with editing this blog.
I hope you enjoy Holy Mass and More!
